The Greiwe family is having a fundraiser for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. We lost our son/brother Nicholas at the age of 23 on March 25th 2010. When Nick was at Ohio University getting his degree in Outdoor Recreation, he often would give individuals on campus an I Am Loved pin when he felt they looked like they could use a lift. In Nicks memory we are having the I AM LOVED dance. This is our first year for the event but we hope to make this an annual event. All proceeds from this event will be donated to American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
AFSP a non-profit organization founded in 1987 raises awareness, funds scientific research, provides resources, promotes policies and legislation that impact suicide prevention and provides aid to those affected by suicide. Suicide is currently the third leading cause of death among young people age 15 to 24. The highest overall rates of suicide are for adults age 40 to 59. We are hoping through our donation from this event to help prevent other families from experiencing such a devastating loss. This years event will feature food from Smokin' Irish and Marcos Pizza, drinks, and live music from Unmarked Cars and Celestials which can be seen on Facebook. In addition we will have a silent auction at the event.
