Aruba Animal Shelter The Aruba Animal Shelter has only one goal to improve the life of Arubas pets by giving animals a second chance! We do this by housing as many unwanted animals as we can to give them the care, love, affection and medical attention they need. We also talk to people that bring in animals they can no longer care for and ask them what their problems are and talk about possible solutions. Many of the animals that are put down each year are puppies and kittens. One of the focuses, therefore, of the Animal Shelter is to encourage people to have their animals either spayed or neutered in order to reduce the population. All animals sold for adoption aged six months or older are either spayed or neutered prior to them leaving the shelter. All new owners of puppies and kittens (less than six months old) receive a voucher so that they can have them spayed or neutered at a later stage for no additional charge.
Animal Relief Foundation-Aruba ARF-Aruba is the only registered 501(c)3 non-profit working to help the homeless and neglected animals on the Island of Aruba. Your donations are therefore only tax deductible when made directly to ARF-Aruba. We are in no way associated with others who are asking for donations on Facebook. We are a nonprofit organization that has officially been in operation since 2010. We raise funds and provide care for the homeless, hungry, and neglected dogs and cats on the island of Aruba. We work to get the needy animals veterinary care, food, shelter, and a forever home. We also try to spay/neuter as many dogs and cats as possible to humanely control their population. Through donations and endless hours contributed by our volunteers, we have been able to rescue many needy animals on the Island but there is always much more to be done. ARF-Aruba dogs and cats available for adoption in United States are posted on the Petfinder website. Pictures and more information about animals needing foster homes and/or transportation to United States can often be found on the ARF-Aruba Facebook page.
Several of those who volunteer for ARF-Aruba started out as tourists visiting the Island. As much as we all love Aruba, whether as residents or visitors, we have all been greatly disturbed by the number of homeless, hungry, and sick dogs and cats that we see on the Island. Homeless animals are found both on the streets and in the rough terrain that makes up much of the middle of the Island. Over the years, we have rescued many dogs and a number of cats bringing them to the veterinarian, feeding them, bathing them, and finding these animals foster and forever homes. In addition to holding fundraising events in the United States and on Aruba, we have been very fortunate to receive donations from a number of concerned tourists.
We receive donations of funds and items that we need for the animals from visitors to Aruba who are also concerned about the homeless animals as well as others who care about the plight of the animals of Aruba. We use the donated funds exclusively to pay for programs that will help the animals of Aruba. We operate totally on a volunteer basis and donations are not used for anything other than to improve the lives of the animals of Aruba.
