In a welcoming and supportive environment, in the spirit of holy work and sacred play, we will explore and delight in a variety of meditative practices, breathing and vocal exercises, group tuning and toning, deep listening invitations, chanting of various stripes, and ample opportunities for improvisation. There may be time as well for individual assessments, if desired.
Our aim is to feel the holiness of our voices and to voice the holiness of our hearts, both in solo voyages into the unknown and in unthreatening intimacy with our fellows.
Michael Esformes is an ordained Cantor in the lineage of Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi, of blessed memory, and the Aleph Alliance for Jewish Renewal. A long-time student of sacred traditions and mystical teachings, Michael is also a voice in ecumenical dialogue. He travels widely, leading worship services, performing in concert and offering programs in voice and music, meditation and prayer. Michael lives in Ashokan, with his head mostly above water.
