The R.N. Factor
The true quality of medical care relies on two main factors outside of physicians and insurance policies: family and the quality of nurses who care for you from day to day.
The R. N. Factor consists of three stories: (2011) A cancer patient transferred to a hospice facility must face death and dying in the care of Registered Nurses; (1998) Two sisters expecting babies are sent to the hospital in critical condition from a bus accident and; (1972) A mentally ill patient has been institutionalized and becomes the principal patient under the clinical trials of a Student Nurse.
The purpose of this play is to honor the Registered Nurses who care for these patients; and a medium in which to bring awareness of the mentally ill and the social and medical issues experienced by patients in medical facilities.
