2016 Visiting SAGE Paul Hawken
A Message of Hope for this Generation and the Next

SAGE will host Paul Hawken as its 2016 Visiting SAGE. Hawken is a world-renown environmentalist, entrepreneur, and best-selling author on sustainability. He will speak about his work with Project Drawdown, a non-profit that is mapping and modeling 100 existing, substantive solutions to reverse climate change. These solutions are widely practiced, commonly available, economically viable, and scientifically valid. When implemented globally and at scale over the next thirty years, they'll not only forge a pathway to reverse climate change, but will also result in more security, more prosperity, more jobs, and better health.

Paul Hawken has dedicated his life to environmental sustainability and changing the relationship between business and the environment. He is one of the environmental movements leading voices, and a pioneering architect of corporate reform with respect to ecological practices. His work includes founding successful, ecologically conscious businesses including Smith & Hawken, writing about the impacts of commerce on living systems, and consulting with heads of state and CEOs on economic development, industrial ecology, and environmental policy. He has written seven books including four national bestsellers: The Next Economy, Growing a Business, The Ecology of Commerce, and Blessed Unrest. His books have been published in over 50 countries in 28 languages.

SAGE is a Portland-based nonprofit organization that inspires people over fifty to live a legacy of service and advocacy for younger and future generations. The Visiting SAGE speaker series inspires people to find new pathways to civic leadership and service. Learn more at www.wearesage.org.
