Two talented young singer/songwriters stand up for church/state separation at a house concert in West Newton, MA, sponsored by Americans United for Separation of Church and State!
With vulnerability, wit and a whole lot of passion, Minnesota based singer-songwriter Rachael Kilgour effortlessly merges the personal and political, engaging and inspiring listeners of all backgrounds. Grand Prize Winner of the 2015 NewSong Contest, winner of the 2015 LEAF Newsong Contest and Finalist in the 2015 Telluride Troubadour Competition. Her most recent recording (not yet released) is being produced by singer/songwriter Catie Curtis.
Matt Nakoa is a musical adept, one of those well kept secrets you just cant help but celebrate: intimate and genuine, soulful and bittersweet, a rich poetic songbook sung in praise to a complicated, emotionally present world.
This show is a benefit for Americans United for Separation of Church and State, (www.au.org) a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization located in Washington, DC dedicated to preserving the constitutional principle of church-state separation as the only way to ensure religious freedom for all Americans. Their outreach and legal teams advocate for LGBT marriage equality, protecting womens reproductive rights, keeping religion out of public schools, fighting faith-based discrimination and exposing the radical agenda of Religious Right organizations.
