Makoto Taiko One Pulse Concert
Join us for Makoto Taiko's One Pulse - a powerful concert featuring traditional, modern, and fusion Japanese drum pieces with Grammy Award-winning Taiko Master Koji Nakamura, Koto Artist Yukiko Matsuyama, and Violinist Jason Yang.
After developing an early foundation from intensive training with members of renowned Taiko group Ondekoza, Koji Nakamura has helped Makoto Taiko grow into one of the largest Taiko groups in the United States. Koji and Makoto Taiko have played throughout the United States and Japan, performing both traditional and unique adaptations of Taiko.
International recording artist Yukiko Matsuyama bridges eras and cultures. From performing with Shakira at the Latin Grammy Awards, recording with Paul Winter on his Grammy Award Winning album, Miho: Journey to the Mountain (Best New Age Album), to performing with Motown Legend James Gadson, Yukiko shares the sound of the Japanese koto with diverse audiences worldwide.
Violinist Jason Yang has become one of today's most popular sensations on the acoustic and electric violin circuits in the U.S. and abroad. With over 186,000 subscribers and over 31 million views on his YouTube channel, he reaches extremely diverse audiences through multiple genres of music and is recognized for his versatility on multiple instruments as well as his abilities in composing and producing. He has performed all over the world with Madonna as her violinist. In 2012, he completed the MDNA Tour, which consisted of 88 sold-out shows throughout Europe, North America, South America, and the Middle East.
The 80 member ensemble of Makoto Taiko is a dedication to the art of Taiko as a means of expression and inspiration to players and audience members alike. Uniting passion, precision, and spirit, we invite you to experience One Pulse!
