Keplers is getting both hip and deep as we host jazz musician and award-winning physics professor Stephon Alexander to talk about the nexus of music and the universe in The Jazz of Physics.

This book takes readers on a cosmological journey to a place where music, physics and the cosmos are one. Alexander will share the origins of his passion for music and physics, a journey that took him from a childhood in the Bronx to studying theoretical physics at Imperial College, Londons inner sanctum of string theory. The Jazz of Physics takes readers on a firsthand journey of discovery and wonder, unveiling not only the machinery of modern physics and cosmology but also shining a light on the ancient mysteries that physicists face and how John Coltrane used physics and geometry to shape his brilliant musical art.

Like a combination of David Byrnes' insights in How Music Works, the profound cosmology of Stephen Hawking, and the soulful refrains on a John Coltrane record, Stephon Alexander truly promises to bring the music of the spheres here to Keplers.

Stephon Alexander is a Professor of Physics at Brown University and the winner of the 2013 American Physical Society Bouchet Award. He is also a jazz musician and recently finished recording his first electronic jazz album with Erin Rioux.
