Nordic Cooking Class at The Field Kitchen
The Field Kitchen is a mobile series of cooking classes led by veteran Bay Area culinary instructors Frances Wilson and Jen Knapp. This hand-on class is part of a series called The Cookbook Club, where we will explore the recipes from some of the most exciting cookbooks to be published recently. Take just one class, or sign up for all four! Each class is $130

Under the guidance of Frances and Jen, you will learn tips and techniques that will make all of these recipes ones that you will be inspired to recreate at home.
The class will run from 11 a.m. 2 p.m. and include lunch. Feel free to bring wine or beer to share with the meal.
Saturday, May 21st: The Nordic Cookbook by Magnus Nilsson
This is a deliciously monumental work by the acclaimed chef of Faviken restaurant in Sweden. A gorgeous collection of over 700 recipes, photographs and stories, it covers the foods from Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway. However, the dishes are firmly based in true home cooking.
Whittling down the recipes will be a challenge but we will sample such dishes as:
-Marinated Smoked Herring on Homemade Crispbreads
-Nettle Soup with Soft Boiled Egg; Roast Pork with Cracklings
-Sweet and Sour Red Cabbage
-Hasselbach Potatoes
-Lingonberry Mousse with Almond Wafers
-Spiced Honey Cake
About Frances and Jen:
Frances is a seasoned food professional who taught the professional culinary program at the renowned Tante Marie's Cooking School in San Francisco for more than ten years and now teaches at the Silverado Cooking School in Napa. Prior to that, she was the chef at Lalimes restaurant in Berkeley.
Jen taught recreational classes and led private culinary events at Tante Marie's Cooking School for 15 years, in addition to working as a private chef and caterer throughout the Bay Area.
Frances and Jen are both endlessly curious about food and cooking and enjoy sharing their enthusiasm and knowledge with others.
Cancellation policy:
A full refund will be issued if we are notified 5 or more days prior to a class. If you cancel a class between 48 hours and less than 5 days, a 50 percent refund will be offered. If you cancel less than 48 hours before the start of a class, we regret that no refunds or credits can be issued, however you are welcome to send someone in your place.
