Come support Community School #1, Kansas City's one-room school house, as we enjoy a 4 course dinner** prepared by Chef Max Watson at the Bauer Machine Works Building in the Crossroads Arts District. Enjoy Boulevard beer pairings and dessert by Natasha's Mulberry and Mott. Live music provided by Herman Mehari Trio, featuring CS#1 music teacher Hermon Mehari.
This evening will also feature a live auction including fine art, a getaway to the Flint Hills, and more! Proceeds benefit the students of Community School #1 through scholarships, defraying the expense of Wildwood Outdoor Education camp and developing an endowment to secure its sustainability.
"Community School #1 is a small, independent elementary school built on the principles of academic excellence, responsible citizenship and sense of community. Our small enrollment allows us to work individually with each child. The daily interactions between students strengthen the values of respect, responsibility and resourcefulness. The arts are integrated with all subjects and enrich the curriculum. CS#1 is located near an urban environment with a wealth of learning resources and we leverage these resources via numerous field trips every year as an extension of our classroom. In this way, children get a broader view of their community which enriches their learning and encourages their commitment to serving others."
The mission of CS#1 Elementary is to nurture every childs curiosity, unleash their creativity and empower them to become catalysts for positive change in his / her community.
* Community School Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization * CS#1 does not discriminate. We actively teach tolerance.*
