THE GARMENT WORKER CENTER IS TURNING 15!
Come celebrate LAs garment workers at the Garment Worker Centers Quinceañera! For 15 years, the Garment Worker Center (GWC) has organized with garment workers to fight against wage theft and sweatshop conditions, hold garment brands accountable, pass landmark policy, and provide a worker-centered community space.
Our Quinceañera will celebrate our members accomplishments with Blanca Araceli Soto from "Real Women Have Curves" as Maestras de Ceremonias. The Sweatfree Runway Show will showcase beautiful garments created and modeled by GWC members and their families. The Workers Rights Art Show and Silent Auction will feature solidarity artwork generously donated by artists Irene Aviña (GWC), Hania Ansari, David Bacon, Cocina Abierta Collective, Yeni Dewi (GWC), Dignidade Rebelde, Robert Gumpert, Luis Hernandez, IDEPSCA members, Kalli Arte, Carol Lin, Carole Francis Lung, Narsiso Martinez, and Shizu Saldamando. Son Jarocho Collective and La Chamba will play as we dance through the night.
Please join us on this fun and historic evening!
