Rust
Canada, 2015, 10 minutes
Director: Ben Proudfoot
When Gordon Kennedys wife Carol passed away, he sought solace in his work as an iron artist. While many metalworkers go to great lengths to prevent rust from occurring on their designs, Kennedy uses rust to his advantage. He creates abstract metal sculptures that embrace the irons natural evolution, using the thrill of creative self-expression to find a new perspective on life and overcome tragedy. Part of Breakwater Studios Life's Work web series.

The Long Walk Back
USA, 2012, 14 minutes
Director: Jonas Klittmark
Hundreds of Americans die every year on the railroad tracks; some by accident, others by choice. This documentary explores these tragic events through the lens of the train crews, who unwillingly become spectators, perpetrators and ultimately victims themselves.

The Hollerin Contest at Spiveys Corner
USA, 2015, 17 minutes
Director: Brian Gersten
The Hollerin Contest at Spiveys Corner features the history, characters, and sounds of the National Hollerin Contest. Hollerin is considered by some to be the earliest form of communication between humans, and the competition has been held annually in the small town of Spiveys Corner, North Carolina since 1969. The film follows the stories of three former champions as they attempt to reclaim their titles, and keep the oft-forgotten tradition of hollerin alive.

Long Story Short
USA, 2015, 45 minutes
Director: Natalie Bookchin
Long Story Short interweaves over a hundred video interviews made with laptops and webcams at food banks, homeless shelters, adult literacy programs, and job training centers. Participants discuss why they are poor, how it feels, how they cope, and what they think should be done. Masterfully edited by director Natalie Bookchin, narrations unfold across the screen in choruses of overlapping phrases, ideas, and experiences, revealing individual perspectives as well as the power of the collective voice.
