Marcell Russell LIVE!
Pure soul at its finest. There is no question why he's called The Voice!
Think Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye and Donny Hathaway, then, add the writing talents of Smokey Robinson and you pretty much know what it sounds like to have multi-award winning, singer and song-writer and BET Independent Artist of the Year, Marcell Russell singing to your soul. As a prolific writer of music, the "BMA Soul Singer of the Year" has penned a music catalog of over 800 songs. Take a listen (play the video to the left of where you are reading) and you will see why music-lovers say that he sings with a voice that deserves to be placed among those of silky soul singers that have gone on before him.
Although being nominated for over 20 independent music awards and winning several of those coveted titles is impressive, this is one artist that refuses to rest on his laurels. With each stroke of his pen and each note he produces, he continues to distinguish himself as a writer, producer, singer and performer. Seeing Marcell as a solo artist can take some time getting used to after almost a decade with "the Truth" (his former band.) However, when you hear his music, you realize he hasn't missed a step.
Marcell has three previous albums, including three studio albums: Hopes Too High, Symbols and Serenade & the Sermon. His music has also been the muse for an independent documentary film called You Saved Me. Although he's often been compared to great vocalists that have come before him, his own distinct style always shines through.
Marcell has headlined in large arenas and community venues in virtually every major city in America, as well as gracing stages throughout Europe at sold-out performances. Marcell's music has an amazing ability to connect the sacred and secular in ways that just make sense for everyone who listens.
His messages of God, growth, love, romance, respect and social sensitivity are present in all of his song writing. Its been said that he sings songs that every man wishes he could sing to his wife and songs that every wife wishes her husband would sing to her.
