ANATOMY JUNKIE WEEKEND
Weekend of Events:
FRIDAY APRIL 8: 6:00-8:00pm = "MASTER PSOAS - UNTAPPED POTENTIAL FOR ASANA MASTERY"
The psoas muscle (fully known as the iliopsoas) is a crazy-cool ropelike muscle that runs from the front of the body to the back. One of the body's most powerful hip flexors, it is also prone to being passively tight due to all of our time spent sitting down. When the psoas is chronically shortened, it affects your posture, possibly leading to hip, groin and lower back issues.
What really makes the iliopsoas so fascinating is how underutilized it is- while being passively tight, it is actively not very strong in many people. In this workshop, Lara will help you locate, strengthen and stretch this muscle, to tap into untouched potential in your yoga practice. Harnessing the strength of the psoas will enhance your practice and mastery of advanced postures, such as inversions and arm balances.
SATURDAY APRIL 9: 1:00-3:00pm = "MOVEMENT IS MEDICINE"
Our bodies intuitively know what science continues to support: movement is medicinal- for the body, mind, and spirit! In this master class, you will explore with Lara, a physical therapist and movement technician, how functional movement in multiple directions can heal and empower you in your yoga practice and in life. And it's FUN!
4:00-6:00pm = ADVANCED TRAINING FOR TEACHERS
Dedicated to yoga teachers this special workshop will help you explore how to integrate functional movement into your class sequences. Learn the value of functional movement to bring balance and prevent injury in the bodies of your students, which means sometimes breaking the rules and going out of the box of traditional yoga.
SUNDAY APRIL 10:
1:00-3:00pm = "I GOT YOUR BACK - THE SMART WAY TO BEND"
Backbending should feel amazing, and in this class you will learn the secret to achieving delicious extension without any twinges or pain. The YogaStream method of back bending is precise and focused on proper alignment. By the end of this energizing class, you will not only feel the magic of the back, but you will take your practice to a whole new level of juiciness.
