Art Forms In Flux
ART FORMS IN FLUX (AFIF) | Inspired by the script of our upcoming production, State Park, by Chicago playwright, Aaron Weissman, this unique program invites 17 artists (aka Fluxists) to be in residence developing original work in response to the text. Host to visual art, performance, dance, music, fashion, & new media, The Hairpin Arts Center will be turned into a vessel for the unknown, incredible, and absurd.
THE STORY OF STATE PARK | A female forest ranger's quiet life in the woods gets turned upside down when a stranger drags a mysterious creature into her station. A radical and humorous exchange between two women lost in the unknown, State Park explores what it means to take control of our lives even under the influence of otherworldly circumstances.
MORE ON AFIF | Taking place prior to the play in the form of two stages, artists will respond to the text (not having experienced the play itself) in two residencies at The Hairpin Art Center. The public is invited to attend, experience, and delight in the creations of the artists and the theater company members at the conclusion of their residencies on February 27th and April 16th.
STAGE TWO | Saturday, April 16th 7-10PM A group of eleven artists takes the form of large installation, performance, sculpture, fashion & costume design, dance, and technology.
