Event
Dinner & Bikes Corvallis
Please join us on Friday, June 3, 6:30pm to 9:30pm for a traveling road show of vegan food and bicycle inspiration. Joshua Ploeg will delight with a vegan and gluten free buffet dinner. Elly Blue and Joe Biel will co-present films, a talk, and slides about Groundswell movements, incidences where people demanded and implemented better neighborhood and bicycling conditions.
The event is followed with a book signing and time for questions, discussion of local issues, and perusing the traveling bookstore.
Admission includes the show and gourmet vegan dinner.
The event is approximately PG-rated. Films acknowledge the existence of gang violence, poverty, abortion and contains rare profanity. The discussion involves complex social issues and how they interrelate to bicycling and may not be appropriate for all audiences.
Joe Biel is the founder of Microcosm Publishing, the author of several books and zines, and director of Aftermass: Bicycling in a Post-Critical Mass Portland.
Elly Blue is an author whose works include Bikenomics: How Bicycling Can Save the Economy. Elly and Joe are co-producers of Groundwell, a collection of short films showing how people use bicycling to improve their communities. http://www.pdot.org/
Joshua Ploeg is a professional chef and the author of eight cookbooks, including "This Ain't No Picnic: Your Vegan Punk Rock Cookbook" http://microcosmpublishing.com/catalog/books/4421/
