Event
SWOON
This latest genre-blending collaboration from The Colonials features soprano Charlotte Mundy, poet J. Mae Barizo, guest pianist David Kaplan, and a performance driven by the diverse music of women composers, including Clara Schumann, Hannah Lash, Augusta Read Thomas and Caroline Shaw. The centerpiece of the evening is a song cycle by Doug Balliett, featuring Barizo's text SWOON, intertwined with a performance of Robert Schumann's song cyle Frauenliebe und Leben. SWOON, commissioned for this event,re-imagines Adelbert Von Chamisso's antiquated 19th century text Frauenliebe und Leben as a post-feminist manifesto. Join us in what is sure to be an immersive and unprecedented literary and musical event.
The event will take place in and is being sponsored by Soho's Louis K. Meisel Gallery. The performance will be segmented by a wine tasting flight, curated by Rob Moose. Small plates and canapés will be served. Cheese offerings will be curated by Ligaya Mishan (writer of the New York Times column, Hungry City).
