Bridgeport UCC Fundraiser Presents Kelly Bosworth
Kelly is a folk Americana singer/songwriter raised on family jam sessions and classical music. Her evocative, haunting melodies and warm vocals draw audiences into her songs, which speak to universal themes of loss, longing, and love. Born to a father who was a musician-turned-geographer and a mother who was a dancer-turned-businesswoman in the late 80's, Kelly was moved to Portland, OR as a babe-in-arms. Kelly began taking piano lessons and learning classical music, which would become a lifelong love. At 12, she and her father had nightly lessons, with Kelly on piano and her Dad teaching himself upright bass. These lessons turned into open jam sessions for family and friends which became a tradition, a place for family and friends to sing and play and celebrate and enjoy each others' company.
After her Dad passed in 2011, Kelly began writing songs. She left her work in social justice to pursue music as a full time vocational calling. Kelly released her self-titled debut album in November 2014. Kelly has toured nationally including Portland, OR, Minneapolis, MN, and New York City, NY. Her single "Waters" from her debut album hit #7 on the folk DJ charts.
When invited to perform at Bridgeport UCC for their Fundraiser, Kelly remarked that she was excited to perform at our event to bring people together to enjoy the melodies and lyrics of her music as a glimpse into her life experiences. Kelly was happy to sing to people that prioritized issues such as social justice and human emotions in life.
The event will take place on Saturday, April 9, at Bridgeport UCC, 621 NE 76th Ave., Portland, OR. The doors open at 6pm and concert will start at 6:30pm and will continue until 9:00, with finger food, wine, and sparkling water available to our guests. Tickets are $21.69 if purchased through Brown Paper Tickets or $25 (cash or check) if purchased at the door. You may print your ticket(s) after ordering them on this site.
