the 2016 Wild & Scenic Film Festival
To Celebrate the onset of 2016, Wild Utah Project's 20th anniversary year, we are hosting the Wild & Scenic Film Festival on Match 01 at Brewvies Cinema Pub in Salt Lake City. This annual festival, which debuted January 14-18 in Nevada City CA, is just now hitting the road and one of the first stops is Salt Lake for our anniversary party!
Speaking of party, we will be doing more than just watching great films together. Peter Metcalf, founder and long-time CEO of Black Diamond outdoor equipment, will be kicking off the event for us. Brewvies has a bar and full menu of tasty pub/grill dinner delights, and you can bring your glass of beer and your plate of food right into the theater, where there is a nifty "shelf table" in front of every seat to dine upon. And wait till you see the line-up of amazing outdoor gear we are raffling off! Raffle tickets will be available in the lobby of Brewvies.
To honor Wild Utah Project's mission of protecting wildlife and improving wildland habitat on Utah's public lands, we easily picked a perfect line-up of short films from the over 60 choices from the 2016 Screening (after all, the theme of the festival is "Where Activism Gets Inspired"!). We leaned towards films with strong conservation themes, in particular the importance of large, healthy, connected wild landscapes for wildlife. But we also have a great selection of "Citizen Science" in action, pieces showcasing conservation activist heroes, some good clean outdoor recreation fun, and of course - beautiful scenery which will make you yearn for your next wilderness trip, whether for adventure or solitude (or both!)
Feel free to check out the descriptions of the films in our line-up,when you visit the film festival home page (https://www.wildandscenicfilmfestival.org/festival/) : Spine of the Continent (the only 2015 film in our line-up) Art for Change CO2LD Waters Leave it as it is Defined by the Line A dam problem The important Places The fable of the wolf Sagebrush Sisters Avatara Dredging up a Solution Parker's favorite River Things
