MARCH IS CABARET MONTH Presents:
NORA MICHAELS & VICTOR JANUSZ in "VIC & NORA:  Song Sleuths"

Blues chanteuse Nora Michaels and singer-pianist Victor Janusz investigate the songs they love most (some of which they wrote themselves) and the stories that created them. Like Nick & Nora in the "Thin Man" series, these detectives uncover sources with flair, wit and grit.  Music Director: Victor Janusz. With Medearis "MD" Dixson on saxophone.

NORA MICHAELS

Nora Michaels has performed in Japan, Iceland, Scotland and New York City's TATAU (formerly The Versailles Club, built for Piaf), where Michaels performed "L' Mome Piaf".  Northwest audiences have experienced Nora's many appearances at blues festivals; she also helped to create the "Give Peace A Dance" Festival. Michaels has performed with many artists, including Neal Storme, Roy Orbison, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Marianne Faithfull and Duffy Bishop Band.  "It was Duffy who introduced us and first pushed me to work with Nora," says her pianist Victor Janusz. "With the first note I heard Nora sing, I realized she was a true Blues sister to the divine Miss Bishop!" Says Nora: You haven't really heard me sing until you hear me with Victor at the piano."

VICTOR JANUSZ

One of the Northwest's most in-demand piano men, Victor Janusz has fronted his own band for 15 years, headlining at venues from Canlis, Columbia Tower Club and El Gaucho to Tulalip Casino and Salty's on Alki (where he has been resident "Weekend Brunch" pianist for eleven years). His one-man show "HANDS SOLO: Pianoman", directed by Lori Larsen, sold out an exclusive two-week engagement in ACT Theatre's 2014 season; the show also played the Duplex in NYC, the Arthur Newman in Palm Springs, and the Yale International Cabaret Conference where it was workshopped. Victor has enjoyed "Command Performances" for both President Barack Obama and Microsoft Chief Steve Ballmer!

MARCH IS CABARET MONTH Presents:
ARWEN DEWEY in "Musique du Film"

From Casablanca to Moonrise Kingdom, French music gives movies that certain "je ne sais quoi": romance, melancholy, sweetness and sizzle! Join Arwen and musical director Victor Janusz for a soirée of vintage French songs from the silver screen.

ARWEN DEWEY

Seattle-based singer, actor and writer Arwen Dewey has performed throughout France, Belgium and the USA in musical theatre, cabaret, opera, fringe theatre, jazz sextets, cathedral choirs, oratorio, plays by Shakespeare and Moliere, storytelling slams, Victorian caroling quartets, commedia dell' arte, acoustic folkie cafes, early music recitals, and zombie apocalypse fundraisers. She has been regaling MICM audiences with stories of international romance, Trilby hats, and the futility and joys of love since 2013. Whether through music and lyrics or the spoken and written word, Arwen is passionate about telling stories as the ultimate means of sharing and understanding each other's lives. Musical director: Victor Janusz.
