Coco O'Connor
A multi-instrumentalist,Coco plays the cello, drums, & guitar but what really makes her stand out is her distinctive, vulnerable yet commanding vocals & unique approach to songwriting.
Internationally, her songs have been added to DJ sets,podcasts,& remixed by cutting edge electronic artists/DJ's Andy Hunter (Nettwerk), Doug Ross (Rubiks Records) from the UK, the US, and remixes of her song DUB will be on Beatport and other sites via Twisted Circuits Records (Canada) in March.
Her first CD, received enormous support from NOVA (National Organization for Victim Assistance). A former crime victim herself, she welcomed the opportunity to turn injustice into justice through music. "Higher Power" found it's way on a CD Compilation produced by Grammy Award winning Producer Steve Zuckerman & "Something Beautiful" was on The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson.
"D'Chase" was awarded "Honorable Mention" in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition (2006). In 2008, "DUB", won Best Electronica @ the New Mexico Music Awards. The song "Hard Time to Shine" (the only Indie release) was selected for Denmark's RADIO HOLSTEBRO. This song was also selected for Sonic Vogue Records' (UK), Sound of Style compilation disc. All songs from both CD's are currently signed with North Star Media for film/tv placements.Many instrumentals are in various music libraries as well & some of her instrumental compositions can be found in theDRIVETV show airing in over 300,000 homes worldwide.
Coco is constantly writing, recording, collaborating w/DJs/producers, & can be seen performing "chill" singer songwriter sets around L.A.She divides her time between L.A.& her studio near Santa Fe, NM which contains a Trident80B console, Neves, a 1960's C12 mic (modified for the female voice by Fred Cameron), & other vintage gear as well as Logic & Ableton LIVE.She continues to hone her craft of songwriting & recently completed the "Producing Music w/ Abelton Live" Certificate Program at Berkleemusic.
