API Equality-LA rings in the Year of the Monkey at our Annual Lunar New Year Banquet, to be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016. Once again, members of API Equality-LA and our friends and allies will parade through the streets of Los Angeles' Chinatown in the 117th Annual Golden Dragon Parade.
Following the parade, we will cap off the day's festivities with a bountiful five-course banquet and celebration at Ocean Seafood Restaurant.
Banquet Menu
--Sauteed Shrimp with Honey Glazed Walnuts
--Beef Cubes with Black Pepper
--Kung Pao Chicken**
--Pan Fried String Bean (Mandarin Style)
--Stir Fried Filet of Cod with Vegetable House Special Chow Mein
--Dessert: Mango Pudding
*We also have an exclusive table for vegetarians with vegetarian courses. Please indicate any vegetarians or other dietary restrictions in your party during the ticket purchase process.
**Kung Pao Chicken may be substituted for another vegetarian dish.
Banquet Accessibility
We have reserved a private room on the second floor of the restaurant. There are stairs and an elevator to access the second floor. On the second floor, there are no gender neutral bathrooms, but there are mens and womens communal bathrooms. If you are not comfortable going to the bathrooms alone, we will have volunteers available to go with you.
The restaurant is located in a plaza which has parking available. If you have parked elsewhere before the parade, make sure that parking is open after 7 PM to ensure you can reach your car after the banquet. If you parked in the Cathedral for the parade, the parking is open until 8 PM.
For the health and safety of community members with chemical sensitivities, we ask that attendees come fragrance-free and avoid wearing scented products before coming to the parade.
