Never performed in its entirety in Kansas City, Ancora will present Dominick Argento's contemporary masterpiece, Walden Pond, set to Thoreau's romantic and inspiring text, which embodies the American Transcendentalist movement. Other program selections include poetic setttings by James Mullholland, Charles Dickens, Darryl Rusnwick, Healey Willan, and selections from Charles Davidson's 'I Never Saw Another Butterfly', based on the writings of Jewish children, from within Nazi Concentration Camps.
