"FANNIE: A Dangerous Woman" is an one act/ one woman play in a tribute to an AMAZING, COURAGEOUS, DANGEROUS woman, Civil Right Leader Fannie Lou Hamer.
Fannie Lou Hamer (Sharese "Reecy" Jackson), born October 6, 1917 in Mississippi, was an American voting rights activist and civil leader. Her plain-spoken elegance and passionate belief in thescripturalrighteousness for justice in America gained her a reputation as a captivating speaker and persistent activist for civil rights. She was one of the founding members of the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party (MFDP) and her testimony at the 1964 Democratic National Convention helped lead to the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
