Learn what goes into putting together an art exhibition, and why the art of seeing is an act of leadership. This course is a three-part series that will qualify you to prepare for a guest curator slot at the Grove Gallery. Satisfactory completion of all three sessions will result in a Guest Curator Training Certificate.

In addition, selected participants will prepare their own themed exhibition for The Grove Gallery during the 2016-17 season. Selected participants will receive technical support for hanging their show, an Opening Reception, letter of reference which can be used on LinkedIn profiles and professional blogpost about development of their theme.

Whether or not you wish to execute on your idea by fully mounting an exhibition, people from any professional background - inside, close to or far from the arts world - can strengthen their ability to tell stories visually and lead others in meaningful experiences by practicing what goes into curating an art exhibition.

Whether you want to create a powerful way for people to engage with your cause or message, or simply gain more enjoyment from time spent visiting art galleries, museums and exhibits, more insight into a curator's mindset can have practical benefits.

The process of defining and exploring the aesthetics, point of view and context of an exhibition builds associative thinking skills. At the same time, managing an installation against a set timeline is a linear project. The world's top business leaders agree that innovation springs from the right balance of both linear and associative thinking, which you will practice in this program.

As curators we have the ability to make surprising connections in ways that help, please and delight others. Curators demonstrate leadership by saying: "Look at this, here is something worth seeing!"  This program will prepare you to do this with confidence, courage and a compelling voice.
