The Queen and I (a musical parody)
Come and see why over 750 people attended our three sold out shows last year as we smash the story of Purim into a "King and I" parody to give birth to "The Queen and I."
Our 7th annual production pokes fun at the story of Queen Esther and the evil assistant to King Ahasuerus, Haman (boooo...hisss).
Join over 40 cast members for this 7th annual, fun filled musical and comedy parody tradition that has quickly become a favorite fun fundraiser for the full family (oy vey, say that's a tongue teaser!) Our Purim Shpiels rank as one of the most popular in chicagoland with our original scripts and music parodies. Our cast auditioned for roles, and rehearsals are intense for over two months (not a few weeks like some other Purim Shpiels).
Returning this year are many of the same funny performers such as Caryn Bark, Katie Zutter, and Fred Huss. For a truly fun time that is guaranteed to have you tearfully laughing and leaving with a smile, come see for yourself why our crowds come back year after year.
Written & directed by Kenny Dermer. This Purim Shpiel will once again feature the musical direction of nationally acclaimed Music Director Howard Pfeifer, Choreographer Rena Rozen, with original costume design by Francine Schulman, technical direction (sound & set design) by Larry Schoeneman, and lighting design by Ron Rude.
