NOLA String Beans
This pre-orchestra string circle is designed for bowed string instrumentalists with at least one year of experience on their instruments to enjoy fun, engaging group music making in a safe, nurturing mixed-age setting.

Through a fusion of the Suzuki Method and the Orff Shulwerk Approach students will explore a range of repertoire from the Classics to the Crescent City Soundtrack. Students will gain exposure to the western classical canon and receive in-group technical instruction on their instrument from a strings specialist. The course is designed to honor student input and facilitate opportunities for individual expression as well as peer collaboration. The 12-week session will culminate in a performance/informance of diverse music, including an original piece composed especially for the ensemble.

Students must provide their own instruments and it is helpful if they can bring a wire folding stand each week as well along with a folder for any written materials.  Prospective students with less than one year of experience will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. If this is the case for your child, please contact Clare Louise Harmon at clare.harmon@gmail.com to discuss eligibility.

Note: Information on NOLA Timebank exchange or tuition assistance is available by contacting us at musiclabnola@gmail.com or 504-942-7606.
