Kieran Jordan Dance presents "Little Gifts"
A Celebration of Irish Dance Steps and Tunes
Set designs and art exhibit by Vincent Crotty Paintings and prints will be available for sale.
Kieran Jordan Dance will present an evening of choreography celebrating the simplicity and precious "little gifts" of Irish dance steps and tunes. In a genre often dominated by large-scale, pyrotechnic shows, this work will highlight the immediacy and intimacy of solo Irish dance footwork with live, acoustic music, as well as choreographed duos, trios, and small ensemble works that draw from 10 years of the company's work.
Audiences are invited to celebrate St. Patrick's Day season by experiencing up-close the energy, artistry, and interconnectedness of Irish dance and music, from a cast of noteworthy Boston-area performers.
This performance is supported by Green Street Studios' company-in-residence program.
Featuring Kieran Jordan Dance company: Amanda Carey, Samantha Jones, Kieran Jordan, Kristen Kelly, Rebecca McGowan, Lauren Milord, Jackie O'Riley, and Hannah Pelton
Special guest performances by the children of O'Riley Irish Dance
Live music by the Vox Hunters (Armand Aromin and Benedict Gagliardi) with John Coyne
Lighting design by Kim Holman
Kieran Jordan Dance is a Boston-based Irish dance company dedicated to the creation of new choreography inspired by "old-style" dance traditions. Drawing from her training in contemporary dance and many forms of traditional percussive dance, Director/Choreographer Kieran Jordan creates a world on stage that is both spirited and evocative, with dances that weave visual patterns, depict a sense of time or place, or highlight the relationships and connections found in traditional Irish dance and music. Whether performing in concerts, festivals, or theater settings, the company's work is celebrated for its lyricism, eye-catching footwork, rhythmic energy, and natural embodied movement.
