Mick Moloney and Athena Tergis
Author, musicologist, professor and professional musician, Mick Moloney brings profound depth and life to his music through stories and history of Irish music and its journey to America. One of the all-time greats on banjo, mandolin and guitar, Mick is also a master singer and storyteller who has been involved in the production of over 50 albums, host of three nationally syndicated television series on folk music and has been awarded the National Heritage Award from the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as the Presidential Distinguished Service Award in 2013. Mick's knowledge and talent are vast, but it is his stories and the spirit in his music and singing that have captured the hearts of audiences worldwide. Joining Moloney will be frequent touring partner, both, as here, as a duo and also in the esteemed ensemble The Green Fields of America, the charismatic fiddler Athena Tergis. Inspired by attending the nearby Valley of the Moon Fiddle Camp, Athena moved to Ireland following her passion for Celtic Music. Athena then was summoned to New York to star in Riverdance on Broadway and recently was the cynosure in Riverdance composer Bill Whelan's new show, Heartbeat of Home. Her CD with guitarist John Doyle, 'A Letter Home,' has been critically and popularly acclaimed on both sides of the Atlantic.
