LarrySmithSings - A Winter Celebration !
A Winter Celebration !
Come celebrate with us at Avonova Sunday, December 20th at 3pm, in a warm, cozy, living room with live jazz provided by Larry Smith singer, Jim Davidson pianist, Ron Belcher bassist, and Bob Blankenship drummer. And lots of tasty treats and beverages.
The Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere (which is the Summer Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere) has astronomical, cultural and religious significance. In the Northern Hemisphere the Winter Solstice is the shortest day of the year.
Winter is the season of dormancy, darkness and cold. The Winter Solstice marks the "turning of the Sun" and the days slowly get longer. Celebrations of the lighter days to come and nature's continuing cycle have been common throughout cultures and history with feasts, festivals and holidays.
