Starry Night Illumination Night & Feast
There is no more magical or romantic way to start the Holiday Season than with Dunham Farms' 5th Annual Illumination Night!
Come early to explore the gorgeous riverside plantation grounds before dark when ancient oaks will be transformed into a Starry Night fairyland.
Guests begin the celebration with a cocktail hour and holiday jazz in glorious Live Oak Hall. Throughout cocktail hour, guests may stroll the grounds or take wagon tours of the plantation grounds and the 1840 Palmyra Plantation House.
In the twilight just before dinner, guests will be given individual candles before gathering on the Riverside Lawn for caroling and the lighting of our enormous 24' Christmas tree. From there, revelers will be led through an avenue of lighted trees to the river. Then, the candles, representing holiday hopes and dreams, will be set free on the tide to illuminate the night and begin the holiday season.
Returning to Live Oak Hall, guests will enjoy a concert by the Holiday Harmonies Octet, long-time holiday favorite at the famed Elizabeth's on 37th in Savannah. Revelers will usher in the ceremonial boar's head and sing the traditional Boar's Head Carol signaling the beginning of the feast!
This year's menu includes tender and flavorful pork Sauerbraten with gingersnap sauce (vegetarian option is available with advance notice), spicy red cabbage, butter-whipped potatoes, creamed spinach, fried apples, and an assortment of fresh baked breads and rolls. As guests enjoy a delicious dessert of decadent creme de menthe brownies served with coffee or tea, the Holiday Harmonies Octet will entertain with encores.
After dinner, guests may enjoy wagon rides through the beautiful Starry Forest and throughout the illuminated grounds. Stops include Palmyra Cottage built in 1840 and decorated for the season, Palmyra Barn B&B and the illuminated outdoor creche beneath the majestic Cathedral Oak Grove, a fire pit and with hot cocoa and marshmallows for roasting,and the Holiday Shop featuring unique and beautiful gifts and decorations. Ticket holders receive a 20% discount on all shop items and Dunham Farms gift certificates. Live Oak Hall will remain open with a cash bar, non-alcoholic beverages and music until 10:30.
All food and activities are included in the ticket price, and adult ticket holders receive one drink ticket.
Stay as long as you like listening to holiday music and enjoying friends or family around the fire in this inspiring setting. Very different, very beautiful and very much is keeping with the spirit of the season.
