After Ebola: Bringing Hope to Life
The Ebola crisis in West Africa has abated, but over 16,000 children have been left without food or shelter.  Transcontinental Christian Ministries in Kent, Washington has been instrumental in addressing these concerns but needs your help to fund relief programs that provide food, housing, medical attention, school supplies, and more. Our goal is to build self-sustaining institutions that will foster the next generation of citizens and leaders in West Africa.

After Ebola: Bringing Hope to Life is a musical celebration of the resilience of the human spirit. For this family-friendly benefit performance, Trio Guadalevín taps ancient musical traditions from all over the world, reminding us of the cultural connections we share as we face the challenges before us.

Named for the ancient river and gorge that divides the city of Rhonda in Andalusia, Trio Guadalevín explores the deep roots that bind the Americas with Southern Europe, the Maghreb and West Africa  roots that stretch across the ocean and intermingle Indigenous, African, Arabic and European cultural expressions. Drawing on Mexican son jarocho and huasteco, melodies sung in Zapotec, Spanish xácaras, Italian ciaccona, Andalusian song, Sephardic balladry and Moroccan shabia  Abel Rocha, August Denhard and Antonio Gómez interpret and often re-imagine a soundscape that draws on the many facets of identity that link Latin America and the Mediterranean.

Abel Rocha - Harp, jarana, guitar, quinta, voice
August Denhard - Lute, Baroque guitar, therobo, oud
Antonio Gómez - Pandereta, bendir, teponatzli, cajón, zils, cascabeles, rattles

Trio Guadalevín receives funding through an Art Projects Grant awarded by 4Culture.
