About Take Root: Take Root will be a nonprofit pay-what-you-can cafe in Kirksville, MO. Our mission is to nourish and empower our community through the medium of sustainable and local food. Planning to be open in autumn of 2016, we will combine the concept of a cafe, a soup kitchen, and a community center, providing a space that allows everyone, regardless of means, access to healthy food. Take Root is part of a national network called One World Everybody Eats (OWEE) that includes more than 50 other pay-what-you-can cafes; all are dedicated to alleviating hunger in this nation. Ultimately, we want to create a space that invites our community to listen, learn, and live together.
