An Evening at Peralta Hacienda Historic Park
The Peralta Hacienda Historical Park welcomes you as their guest for a night to bring awareness and raise funds for this critical project in our history as a city, state and country. Join elected officials, historians, community leaders, and residents for an intimate evening event at the Peralta Hacienda Historic Core.
Peralta Hacienda Historical Parksix acres of open space in Fruitvale with a beautiful museumis the Birthplace of Oakland. Although it dates from the era when California was part of Mexico and Spain, Peralta Hacienda is known for its exhibits in many media sharing the stories of Oakland's dazzlingly diverse present-day communities. Laotian Mien voices, Cambodian American rhythms, Black history and memories contained in a giant horse designed by Oakland's premiere landscape architect Walter Hood: all of these and more have a place at Peralta Hacienda. The latest is an exhibit about the effect of mass incarceration to be made with community words and images over the summer in a series of artist residencies.
Dinner, a brief presentation and entertainment will be provided.
