Monica Pasqual and Josh McClain in Concert
We are excited to announce a very special concert on October 4th. Monica Pasqual, daughter of Pilar Pobil, will be back with cellist Josh McClain for an encore performance to benefit the Pilar Pobil Legacy Foundation. All proceeds will go to the organization.
Monica has performed numerous times in Salt Lake City with her popular all-woman band, Blame Sally. (Utah Arts Festival, The State Room, The Art Barn and more). She will be accompanied at this concert by Josh McClain on Cello.
Monica Pasqual is the winner of 6 Independent Music Awards and Six Emmy Awards. Her song 'Bird in Hand' charted on both Americana and Roots Radio and was among the top 10 Folk Radio songs for 2011. Her songs have been used on numerous network television shows and she has composed soundtracks for PBS, The History Channel and National Geographic Television. For the last 13 years Monica has been a member of the popular Bay Area Band, Blame Sally, touring the US and Europe extensively and releasing 8 albums.
The Pilar Pobil Legacy Foundation was officially established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The foundation's objectives are: -To purchase the home from Pilar's estate upon her death, which will then operate as an artist retreat. -Maintain the home, its furnishings and the collection of artwork exhibited throughout the house at that time, which Pilar is donating to the foundation. -Continue the annual Art in Pilar's Garden, provide educational programs in many arts genres for the public, and offer the home as an artist residence to visiting artists in exchange for workshops, performances and master classes. -Celebrate Pilar's Spanish heritage by nurturing artists of Latino and Hispanic decent. By creating the foundation now, much of the programming can begin during her lifetime. Funds raised to purchase the home will be held in Trust until the sale takes place. Program funding will be utilized now to develop and execute programs that Pobil will have the opportunity to oversee. Preserving the home as an artist retreat will fill a void in the community by providing a small venue for arts organizations, conserving a legendary artist's work, and offering unique educational programs unlike any others currently available in the community. We have received the enthusiastic support of the City, the arts community as well as Avenues neighbors and organizations.
