Reimagining Standards
Bodhi Tree Concerts North is proud to present "Reimagining Standards: an evening of jazz with Aaron Lington & friends" on Friday, October 9, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Palo Alto, 505 E. Charleston Rd., Palo Alto 94306.

Grammy Award-winning baritone saxophonist and composer Aaron Lington is well known in the San Francisco Bay Area jazz scene. His performing and compositional credits include collaborations with the San Francisco Symphony, Maynard Ferguson, the BBC Radio Orchestra, the Count Basie Orchestra, Doc Severinsen, Bo Diddley, Joe Lovano, Jamie Davis, Tommy Igoe, Pacific Mambo Orchestra, and many others. In addition, he has won awards for both his playing and writing from Downbeat Magazine, ASCAP, and was the 2003 recipient of the Sammy Nestico Award. Dr. Linton also holds the position as professor at San José State University where he serves as Coordinator of Jazz Studies, and is also the director of the San Jose Jazz High School All Stars.

Dr. Lington will be joined by fellow jazz musicians Dahveed Behroozi on the piano, bassist John Shifflett, and Greg Wyser-Pratt playing drums.

Reimagining Standards is presented by Bodhi Tree Concerts North (www.btcnorth.org), a benefit concert series which presents high-quality musical performances to the public and then donates 100% of the profits from ticket sales to charitable causes.  The charitable organization receiving the benefits of this evening of jazz is Family Giving Tree, a Milpitas based non-profit whose mission is to fulfill the exact holiday wishes and provide backpacks filled with school supplies to those children in the most need in our communities while inspiring the values of kindness, philanthropy and volunteerism (www.familygivingtree.org).
