Risk vs. Reward & The Intrapersonal Relationship with Fear with Scott Rogers
Climbing is inherently dangerous, yet through a system of subconscious checks and balances, we determine that the risk can either be mitigated or justified due to a desired process or end result. The joy we get from the pursuit of (insert extreme sport here) often outweighs the pain and suffering; but not always. As a climber and BASE jumper, Scott has experienced the full gamut of human emotion; the sensation of human flight contrasted by the pain of breaking both legs, or losing too many friends. How do we think about risk, how are we empowered by fear, and why do we keep coming back for more despite the dangers?
