Lucca Restaurant Presents "Food 101"
School is back in session and Lucca Restaurant is hosting a multi-date lunch event entitled "Food 101." The event is a five-class course featuring five different speakers, each with a distinct realm of expertise in the culinary world who will share their knowledge during a casual lunch at Lucca. Classes begin on Saturday, September 26, and are taught every other week.  A broad spectrum of topics will be covered, such as:  Burgers, Food Photography, Food Industry Trends, Wine, and Innovative Culinary Techniques. Each speaker will work in collaboration with Chef Ian MacBride to create dishes for the lunch that accompany the discussion and enhance the learning experience. All classes will take place in a casual setting at Lucca Restaurant, 1615 J Street, Sacramento, CA. Enroll today!

Rodney 'Burger Junkie' Blackwell
Saturday  9/26/15 (11 a.m.  1 p.m.)

Enroll in the first class of "Food 101!" Rodney Blackwell will be kicking off this six-part series with the discussion of his life as the infamous Burger Junkie. Chef Ian MacBride will prepare four distinct burger tastings, each with their own vibrant personality, that all showcase Lucky Dog Ranch Beef. Rodney & Ian will discuss each burger & how it pairs with each side dish; and they will also impart knowledge of such topics as:  the best burger preparation techniques, home recipes, what's new in the burger scene, up & coming trends, and even Instagram tips. There will also be a Q & A session with where you'll be able to gain specific knowledge from the Burger Junkie himself. Join us!

Tickets are $30 and include a beer, four burger tastings, and four side dishes
Complimentary Zucchini Chips will be offered

Join us for Debbie Cunningham's discussion on Food Photography!  Debbie is a contributing photographer for Sacramento Magazine & Edible Sacramento who specializes in food & restaurant photography. She will share her secrets on such topics as:  how to take the best food pictures, composition lighting and editing -- all ranging from using a professional camera to a mobile phone.

Event Details

Tickets are $30 and include a four-course meal accompanied with a beer, glass of wine, or well cocktail.
Each ticket holder will be entered in a raffle to win a $50 Lucca Gift Card.
The event is limited to 50 seats and begins at 11:00am.

Join us for Mike Dunne's discussion on wine! The theme of the event will be a Non-Traditional Wine Pairing -- where Mike will pair an unexpected wine with each course. His topics will include:  tasting, pairing and writing about wine; as well as touching on observations and predictions of the California wine scene.

Mike is the writer of a weekly wine column for The Sacramento Bee and The Bee's former food editor, wine columnist and restaurant critic. He is a freelance wine writer and consultant who divides his time between Sacramento and San Jose del Cabo, Baja California Sur. The wines selected will not be the traditional pairings of red with beef, white with salad, etc.
You will join Mike in a blind tasting to see if we can stump the expert!

Hank is the creator of the blog, Hunter Angler Gardener Cook; author of the books, "Hunt, Gather, Cook: Finding the Forgotten Feast," and "Duck, Duck Goose: Recipes and Techniques for Ducks and Geese, both Wild and Domesticated;" and an award-winner from both the James Beard Foundation & the International Association of Culinary Professionals.  His topic will be focused on "Bringing the Wild Within the Kitchen," where he will discuss bringing wild food into your kitchen -- whether at a home or restaurant.
