The Underpants

The Windsor Jesters proudly present "The Underpants", Steve Martin's adaptation of a Carl Sternheim play. Show dates are October 8, 9, 10, 16 and 17 at 7:30 PM at the LP Wilson Community Center in Windsor, CT at 599 Matianuck Avenue.

Steve Martin brings his "wild and crazy" talent to adapting Carl Sternheim's 1910 farce. The play is set in 1910 Germany and centers around Louise and Theobald Maske. Theohas a most unusual problemhis wife, Louise, had her underpants fall off.

Not while she was shut away where no one else could see, NO! They fell to her ankles right in the middle of town, DURING A PARADE a public scandal! As a low level public servant, Theo is MORTIFIED, any attention brought to him by his wife's careless actions is sure to bring ruin! How can he even allow her to think of starting a family now with his job possibly on the line and the spare room has not been rented!!

Fortune shines with the arrival of two prospective lodgers, Frank Versati and Benjamin Cohen, but they both have plans of their own for Louise and her miscreant underpants. Theo better watch out for their upstairs neighbor, Gertrude Deuter, too! She's more excited about Versati and Cohen's plans than even Louise is. She has even agreed to sew a new pair for Louise to SHOW OFF to her suitors!!

In The Underpants, Steve Martin brings his comic genius and sophisticated literary style to hilariously compare social mores between 1900 Germany and today in his adaptation of Carl Sternheim's classic 1910 farce.

The play is directed by Chris Bushey and features the talents of Enrico DiGiacomo, Keith Giard, Zach Gray, Catherine Haverkampf, Tricia Howard, James Hyland and Bill Mullen.
