About the Teacher: Elizabeth Franzen, RYT-200, has been practicing yoga since the late 1980s and in recent years has begun to focus her practice on the Iyengar method. Her classes acquaint new students and experienced practitioners to the fundamentals of yoga postures, while introducing pranayama (the yogic art of breathing), and Patanjali's sutras. Elizabeth's classes focus on alignment and strength, using props and holding poses for longer periods, which provide space for the mind and the body to meet, revealing the true self. As a student of history and movement, Elizabeth is currently exploring how asanas resonate directly with the stories and images associated with India's sacred traditions. Through study and meditation, we begin to incorporate some of the divine attributes that we contemplate, rising to a new level of freedom and integrity in our practice and finding greater richness and meaning in our lives.
United We Om is currently serving Veterans, foster children, homeless teenage mothers, senior citizens and victims of domestic violence. All are welcome and encouraged to come!
