30th Anniversary John Philip Sousa Birthday Bash
The Ballard Sedentary Sousa Band, the world's only seated marching band, celebrates its 30th anniversary and John Philip Sousa's birthday at Town Hall in downtown Seattle. Come join the band for your favorite Sousa marches, the baton twirling antics of Edith Farrar, birthday cake, and lots of fun!
Led by the inimitable Liz Dreisbach, the band has remained defiantly seated since 1985. They are favorites at park concerts; centennial celebrations including Pike Place Market, the Alaska Yukon Pacific Exposition, Leschi and Kinnear Parks, and Admiralty Head Lighthouse; the Grand Reopening of King Street Station; and anniversaries of the 1924 First Flight Around the World. Wherever the band plays, they bring their own party with them.
