Ancestralization Workshop - Oct 16-18, 2015
Oct 16-18, 2015, in Briones Regional Park (just 30 minutes East of Oakland and Berkeley, CA)
* Do you need to make peace with the loss of a loved one?
* Does your family or ethnic group have trauma or pain that you feel you are clearing, and you want some deeper support in doing that work?
* Did you lose a child, parent, partner, dear friend, and feel like you can't move on?
* Are you familiar with or curious about the work of Dr. Malidoma Somé, and interested in developing an ancestral prayer practice?
Ancestralization is a lengthy ritual to honor the dead, created by Malidoma Somé, based in the indigenous wisdom of the Dagara tribe in Burkina Faso, West Africa. This ritual was created for Westerners to be able to have a practice to honor their dead, help them "cross over," and empower them to become trusted "spirit guides" who individuals can pray to for support.
WHAT YOU WILL GET:
This 3 day retreat includes camping, food, workshops, and rituals that will help you connect deeply with your deceased loved ones, empower them to "cross over" to the other side spiritually and become empowered as spirit guides that you can work with on a daily basis. You will learn methods for praying and working with them too.
BACKGROUND:
This work is based in the indigenous wisdom of West African spiritual teacher Dr. Malidoma Somé. The retreat is produced by members of the West Coast Village, a group of people who worked intimately with Dr. Somé for two years and have completed a certification in "Indigenous African Spiritual Technologies."
You will be guided by Zayin Cabot and Jeff Lamie, who are both initiated elders in this tradition.
WHO IS INVITED:
People of all cultures and ethnicities are invited to participate in this work. It can be a beautiful way of going deeper into your unique cultural heritage.
COST:
$360 event fee covers camping, food, and most supplies. You will be instructed to bring a few items on your own.
We have 5 scholarships available for people of color in financial hardship. We feel it is important to make this work accessible to people of color, in particular African Americans, due to this medicine having its origins in Africa.
