Hedwig and the Angry Inch
Text by John Cameron Mitchell Music & lyrics by Stephen Trask
Hedwig and the Angry Inch was dubbed the "best rock musical ever" by Rolling Stone Magazine. Hedwig tells the "sublimely trashy and surprisingly powerful" story of a fictional rock and roll band fronted by Hedwig Schmidt, an East German transgender singer who recounts her storied life in a wickedly funny lounge act. Originally presented at the Jane Street Theatre in 1998, the show has enjoyed a long run of stars, including a wildly successful Broadway run starring Neil Patrick Harris. Parallel 45 will take full advantage of John Cameron Mitchell's brilliantly immersive concept, bringing this "shamelessly enjoyable show" to the InsideOut Gallery with our own live rock band. Subversive, naughty, and starring the furiously funny Michael Burditt Norton (Our Town, Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind), this is a show not to be missed!
