Metro Chamber Orchestra Opeining Night 2015
The Metro Chamber Orchestra opens its 13th season on Sunday evening, November 15th at 5pm with a gala concert of classical standards in Founder's Hall at St. Francis College. Highlighting the program will be the New York debut of pianist Seth Grosshandler, here joining Maestro Nuzzo and the MCO in Mozart's beloved piano concerto in C, No. 21, "Elvira Madigan." The exciting Latin rhythms of Auturo Marquez's Danzon No. 2 open the program. Full of Latin fire, this piece has become a standard in today's orchestral literature. The program concludes with Artistic Director Philip Nuzzo leading the MCO in the ever popular Mendelssohn Symphony No. 4 in A major (The Italian). Mendelssohn's virtuosic writing highlights this beloved piece. Each movement is filled with that flair that is uniquely Italian, most especially the Tarantella finale. St. Francis College is conveniently located in Brooklyn's Civic Center at 180 Remsen St.
