Hindole Majumdar School of Music and Dance, and Indian Music Society present:

Living Legend of Sitar, Ustad Shahid Parvez  is one of India's most celebrated sitar players of Hindustani classical music, praised especially for the vocalistic phrasing of his raga improvisations.

He belongs to the seventh generation of the Etawah Gharana. Born in Mumbai, India, Shahid was initiated into the rich music of the Gharana by his father Aziz Khan, who was the son of the Sitar and Surbahar late Ustad Wahid Khan.

Shahid Parvez has performed in all major musical festivals in India and abroad including the Festival of India held in the US, Europe, USSR, Canada, Africa, Middle-East and Australia. With numerous LP records, audio and video cassettes, CDs and DVDs, several awards and accolades including the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and Padmasree.
With a distinguished performance career in India and around the world, he is recognized as one of the finest living sitar players.



Pandit Atul Udapadhye, ardent violinist who is known for his versatility, technical brilliance, mature presentation and improvisation, which reflect a deep understanding of the subtle nuances of Hindustani Classical music. Music lovers can look forward to an exhilarating and melodious performances by this accomplished violinist.belongs to the revered Pandit Bhaskarbuwa Bakhale Gharana where his talent as a spirited musician was nourished. Drawing inspiration from his father and guru, Prof. Balkrishna Upadhye, a noted violinist himself, his style represents a unique blending of Gayaki Aang and Tantkari Tantra techniques which has helped in establishing violin as a complete solo-playing instrument in Indian music.

Atul has to his credit, many National awards and accolades including the prestigious President's Award of All India Radio. The well-known institution Sur Singar conferred on him Surmani. He has performed solo recitals for All India Radio and Doordarshan on many occasions. His sterling performance at the famous Sawai Gandharva Music Festival in Pune enthused many young violinists.  Atul carried the fragrance of Hindustani music to U.S.A, U.K and other European countries and gave a memorable rendition winning all-round cheer and applause.

Maestro Hindole Majumdar, occupies a commendable position as a tabla player all over the world. He was a child prodigy who started learning tabla at the age of five years and gave his first performance overwhelming the audience at the age of 10. He received his first training from Sri Shibshankar Karmakar, a disciple of Ustad Karamatullah Khan of the Farukhabad Gharana.
At present, Hindole is receiving training from the great tabla maestro Pandit Sankha Chatterjee of the Punjab and Farukhabad Gharana. He also had the opportunity to learn South Indian Rhythm style from the mridangam exponent Bidwan S. Shekhar. He tours the globe with his work and experiments critically acclaimed. He has accompanied great musicians of Indian Classical Music like Ustad Shahid Parvez, Ustad Shujat Khan,  Pandit Vishwamohan Bhatt, Pandit Rupak Kulkarni, Pandit Rakesh Chaurasia, Bidwan Shashank Subramanium, Bidwan Lalgudi Krishnan to name a few. Recently he has collaborated with world musicians like doyra player Abos Kosimov, four-time grammy award winning percussionist Glenn Velez, and world guitarist Fareed Haque.
He is the founder of Hindole Majumdar School of Music and Dance in Milwaukee, WI., where he teaches tabla and Indian Rhythm on a regular basis.
