"The future is not a place we are going to, it is something we are creating. We have a responsibility to create a better world, to leave a more hopeful legacy for future generations" Jane Dorotik, Justice Now Board Member, imprisoned at CIW
Justice Now is celebrating our 15 year anniversary with a weekend of events honoring our past and building our future.
We are bringing together our community for an event on Saturday 10/10 that will explore our work towards a safe, compassionate world without prisons, build our wider movement, our understanding of where we are going, and deepen our connections to each other. We will start at 1pm and end at 4.30pm with a break in the middle.
The event will highlight the power of Justice Now members who have returned home from women's prisons in recent years, and the voices of folks who are currently fighting the Prison Industrial Complex from the inside.
We will be partnering with allies to bring a range of workgroups exploring the intersection of prison abolition and other social justice movements. Our hope is that people will leave with a deeper understanding of how to bring abolitionist practices to their everyday lives and some key next steps for getting involved in the movement.
There will also be music, dance, art and food for all!
We aim to make this event accessible to everyone who wants to attend. Please let us know if there is anything we can do that will make your attendance possible. The Omni Commons is a wheelchair accessible venue.
