Flamenco Workshop Sept 11-12, 2015 with Martha SidAhmed & Co: BULERIAS Birmingham, AL
MosaicoFlamenco is proud to present Martha SidAhmed, who comes to us again to teach a two-day flamenco dance, singing and rhythms workshop. She's accompanied by flamenco guitarists Guillermo Maduro and Doble T.
Flamenco, at its most artful and authentic, is an improvised conversation among the singer, guitarist, and dancer. If you are a dancer...ever wanted to be able to dance flamenco freestyle? Or understand the dance structure from a letra (song lyric) base? Draw from your own tool box to create a dance? Establish good signals for your musicians? Musicians and singers need to be familiar with these elements also. These are just a few of the skills you'll learn in this dynamic intensive on the art of improvisation, the true heart of flamenco.
A master teacher, two flamenco guitarists, singers, percussion. Experience it.
Fri, Sept 11: 7:30-9:30pm Fiesta Friday! Palmas y Compás (clapping and rhythms letra (lyrics) review + new melody Marcaje - review marking steps + options for entering Social afterwards. 9/12 Saturday 9-10 am: Intro to Flamenco Dance 10 am-12 pm: ELEMENTOS Technique Dance possibilities with bulerías, EARTH (feet), AIR (arms), FIRE (all) 1-pm: PATAÍTA Learning to dance with flamenco guitar and singing A more social, laid back intro on Friday night. Saturday is for learning basic technique, progressively building skills, with guitar and singing. *** IMPORTANT RE: VENUE *** VENUE(S): Friday night only is a private residence studio. Saturday all day is The Dance Foundation, Studio #2.
