Maestro Joaquín Grilo will come to New Orleans on September 25-27, 2015, and you can have a rare opportunity to learn from one of the best masters of Flamenco with unparalleled skill and energy. Grilo will teach a three-day workshop of Bulerías and technique.

ABOUT JOAQUÍN GRILO:
Joaquín Grilo was born in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain where He began to dance at the Cristobal El Jerezano School, and followed studies, in 1981, with Fernando Belmonte and Paco del Rio's Estudio de Danza, where, very soon, he would take part in the Ballet "Albarizuela", created by these two teachers, and in which he attained the first dancer place. He remained in this ballet from 1981 till 1988, and during that time he took part in several tours in countries such as France, England, Switzerland, Morocco, Israel, and Japan and performed in several television shows in Italy, Germany and some American countries.
In 1983, when Mr. Grilo was only 13, he made his first tour abroad, Tel-Aviv, Jerusalem, reaping his first rewards.
In 1986, Mr. Grilo participated in the XI National Flamenco Art Competition in Cordoba and was awarded honorable mention at the age of 18. He has performed at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London as well as various cities in Japan. In that same year he was invited to perform at the Bienal de Flamenco in Sevilla, Spain. Grilo has won numerous major Spanish flamenco awards and has performed with such leading artists as Luisillo, Vicente Amigo, Paco de Lucia, Antonio Canales, Cristobal Reyes and Joaquin Cortes. After forming his own company, he performed throughout the world, exhibiting an uncanny mastery of all flamenco styles. He approaches his work with unbounded energy and unparalleled skill and in 1997 a nationwide poll selected him as Spain's best flamenco dancer.
