Florida Burlesque Festival 2015
The Florida International Burlesque Festival has been a long time coming!
With burlesque festivals popping up all over the country, and the world, it seems very strange that Florida, the place where burlesque was at the top of the list in its "Old Gold Glory Days" would be exempt! Florida had Jackie Gleason, the Rat Pack, Marilyn Monroe, and numerous other Hollywood stars coming here to enjoy its tropical beauty, as well as the amazing and cutting edge nightlife of the time! Florida also hosted the infamous Playboy Club, as well as glamorous nightclubs and burlesque theaters. Most burlesque performers would stay here for extended periods of time, as it was just so lucrative and alive! Some of these burlesque legends included the late Dixie Evans, Big Fannie Annie, burlesque magician Dusty Summers, and the list goes on and on!
Bambi La Fleur, the executive producer, wanted to put it back on the map, allowing the people to enjoy the once upon a time era all over again, and also bring the international burlesque community into her back yard to play!
Bambi is no stranger to retro entertainment, and has made her living doing just that, almost her entire adult life. Bambi is a real singer,model, actor,magician and yes an international burlesque stripper, legend trained! For her they all go together, and really they do! They always did in the day, when you had to have a gimmick! That's entertainment, that's show biz,that's real vaudeville style!
On September 4-5, 2015 at the beautiful Art Deco Cinema Paradiso located in Fort Lauderdale, the first festival of its kind will take place! This is such an exciting beginning, and a definable start of something new and refreshing for Florida, that will continue for years to come! It will be as true to the original art as possible under Bambi's direction, with some of the finest hand picked performers from around the world performing, each one very different from the other.
