Preview Party - Counter Couture: Fashioning Identity in American Counter Culture - Bellevue Arts Museum
Join us for an exclusive preview of our new exhibition Counter Couture: Fashioning Identity in American Counter Culture! Mix and mingle with artists, curators and collectors while enjoying a cash bar, light appetizers, and music from the era by KEXP's DJ El Toro.
This exhibit celebrates the handmade fashion and style of the 1960s and 1970s, exploring themes of funk, transcendent experience, nonconformity, and gender fluidity. Often referred to as the hippie movement, the Counterculture of the era swept away the conformism of the previous decade and professed an alternative lifestyle whose effects still resonate today.
So don your grooviest garments - festive dress from the era is encouraged! - and bring your friends to BAM to celebrate the energy and character of this unrivaled epoch.
7:30-10pm FREE for BAM members! Non-members $10
